Target heart rate while doing spinning class and other kind of cardio?
I just got a Polar heart rate monitor and im having a hard time setting up my low and high zone. Im a 21 year old female, 116 pounds normal pulse but extremely low blood pressure. Can someone give me advice?
Thanks
Just make it real simple. Keep it between 130-140 bpm and you will be cool. All them fancy formulas just tend to get ppl confused.
Its pointless to set up target zones when you first get a monitor. It takes weeks to months of training with it to figure out what the numbers actually mean. Generic age based formulas are inaccurate enough that they are nearly worthless.
For now, just wear it during workouts and keep an eye where your heart rate goes at varying levels of intensity. If you want to accelerate the learning process, Sally Edwards (former elite triathlete) has written a couple of decent books on heartrate based training.
