pulse rate jumps from mid 80s to 200+?
I am 28 years old 6′2", 190lbs non smoker very low drinker. For around 2 weeks now I have been experiencing dizziness and fainting. At random points, not linked to exercise or stress, my field of vision closes in and I feel dizzy and faint, and have lost consciousness briefly twice. I have been referred for a 24hr ECG trace but have to wait 7weeks. In the mean time I have been wearing a heart rate monitor (the type you use in the gym) which shows that when an episode occurs my pulse jumps from the mid 80’s to over 200.
Can anyone suggest a likely cause/course of action?

SP02 finger monitor tester giving false readings with Oximeter?
Hi
I just brought a finger Pulse Oximeter & Heart Rate Monitor, the Sp02 reading on me clicks around
96-98% which is fine.
But if I hold my breather for as long as possible say 1 min 30 sec’s or breathe in and out of a plastic bag for couple of min’s with no new air coming in the bag, the meter still reads 96-98%.
Surly it should start to drop as the o2 in my blood will be severely reduced?
Brought for sleep apnea but with the above tests cant see it being any good?
Your thought, Cheers

Problem with my heart?
So I’m about 6 foot (male, 17), and I’m pretty athletic. I was on an x-training machine one day and noticed the pulse monitor, the ones I use are also fairly accurate, my heart rate was 203 bpm. Is that normal? I went to the doctors and he did a 24 hour ECG on me with a Holter monitor, I phoned up but the nurse said the doctor wants to give me the results and won’t be back from holiday until next week.
I’ve also suffered from chest tightness and chest pains, like a stabbing pain and then someone’s just put a massive weight on my chest. It also comes with some breathing difficulties and exercise intolerance (laziness!!!). Any idea what it might be, if anything?
ps. IM NOT ASKING A QUESTION ABOUT MY WEIGHT, ITS ABOUT MY HEART!, jeez cant people read nowadays

What is getting an EKG (electrocardiogram) like / How will having anxiety during the test affect the results?
For those of you who have had it done, what it is like? How long does it take? How long is it until you know the results?
Part 2 of the question: how will having a lot of anxiety/nervousness/stress while the EKG is being performed affect the results of the test?
I’m a 20 year old male and have been experiencing a pounding heart, highly elevated heart rate, palpitations, fast pulse and so on and my doctors all attribute it to anxiety/panic attacks (which I am known to have frequently) but just to be sure I’ll be given an EKG later this week. What I’m concerned about though is that the simple knowledge that I am being hooked up to something that specifically monitors my heart will make me much more conscious of it, thus raising my anxiety and also raising my heart rate a large amount and potentially causing other problems that might be worrying in a situation of anxiety like that but would go away once I was back home and felt relaxed again.
For example, I have a heart rate/BP monitor here at home and on the morning of a doctor’s appointment before I left I used it and got a reading of 125/79 with a HR of 93bpm. I then stopped at a pharmacy on the way in to do a double check using a different machine they had there and it was 130/81 with a HR of 97. Then when I was at the doctor’s office he hooked me up to a thing that beeped in tune with my heart rate and I was very nervous about it and my reading there ended up being 155/92 with a HR of 138bpm. An hour or two later I tried again using my own BP/HR monitor when I got back home and got a reading of 122/78 with a HR of 87bpm. So I’m worried that they’ll think I have something I don’t because of how my anxiety affects my heart rate in those situations. Either that or the opposite: they’ll blame the anxiety I had during the test as the reason for any abnormalities when in fact there may be something wrong regardless of the anxiety. How likely are either one of these scenarios to happen? If it turns out there is or is not a problem, will the EKG show that no matter what my current BP/HR at the time is?
The more info (from people experienced in this field, preferably) I could get on this stuff the better.
Thanks!

Why did my heart rate go up so much?
freshman year I did an experiment in my bio class where we would monitor our heart beats. We should find a pulse and my heart rate was slow, even by other people’s admission. Junior year of high school I took an anatomy class and the teacher had a machine that tested heart rates and it was like 90 per minute. i went to the doctor twice recently and both times i had 95 heart beats per minute. I know starting freshman/sophomore years I have been eating tons of fast food(like almost every day) but is it enough to raise my heart beat to that extent? Why did this happen?

Help with heart monitor results and Echocardiogram results aslo advice on fluttering in chest?
Hello, Thank you for taking time to read all this and helping me. I am 23 years old and am a female. Recently I have been having these "episodes" of like a fluttering in my chest or throat a little lightheadedness and small hot flash with an increase in heart rate for example heart rate can be at 85 and rise up to 114 with these "episodes" this episode will last a very short second and then it is gone and im "okay" again. I have been to the Cardiologist where a series of test were performed a Echo cardiogram, two EKGS, and a heart monitor was put on for 24 hours. The cardiologist diagnosed me with Tachycardia Palpitations and isolated infrequent pacs which amount to 0.1%. I had 191 SVE out of 136706 total beats in 24 hours. I had one atrial pairs event and the longest n-n run was 1.2 seconds. The results for the ultrasound was as follows well i’ll shorten it everything looked normal no regurgitation’s and the structure and walls were normal with now thickening. What are these results telling me? Is the Cardiologist right when he said im for sure definitely not going to die from this? What is that weired flip floppy feeling im having? and are these results reassuring? I am on a beta blocker now I had to stop taking the medicine a few days ago because of the side effects but im going to start taking different meds soon it had been two weeks without this feeling and today I had one my pulse was 85 and when i had one of these it went up to 114. I only want honest answers and no kidding around with this thank you once again.
Its obviously not heart disease that would have been seen by now.

Is it normal if my heart rate (pulse) is fluctuating as fallows?
Hey, I used my moms blood monitor to check my blood pressure which is normal 108 62, though I tried to measure good few times and I saw that my pulse is fluctuate eg. One time I measure heart rate shows 77 another time I measure it shows 79, then I measure it again i is 80 , then again 77 etc. Is this mean I have some form of arrhythmia? Or that is normal.. And its really always like that. Thanks (Its probably my anxiety though)

is a resting heart rate of 59-67 okay?
Lately I have been worried about my heart rate. If I check it when I wake up still in bed it is about 55. After I get up and get going it averages right around 59-67. If I do something active it goes up depending on how active I am being at the time, then it goes back to my average fairly quickly… within minutes usually. I dont have any symptoms like dizziness or fainting but I know this is right at the low end of normal. I am not overweight at all. 5′9" and about 150lbs. The job I have is pretty active… I climb ladders and roofs all day and have been doing this for 7 years now. My only symptom from this is the health anxiety that I get just thinking about it. I check my pulse all the time now with a wrist monitor I bought. Also my blood pressure is usually about 115/75. Thanks

rapid heart rate, any input welcome. thanks?
hi guys, my blood pressure is near 116/76 almost majority of the time i check it. im concerned with my heart rate though, resting is around 80 bpm when normally it used to be 60-65. when i stand up i feel it races (usually around 95) and when i walk it increases more as well.
this rapid pulse started a few weeks ago during the time i started taking omeprazole (acid reflux apparently), before that i’ve had 2 ekgs done (only when i had palpitations) and results were fine and now im awaiting for my holter monitor results. It just feels unnatural for my pulse to be higher like this when i know the normal rate was around 60-65bpm. any ideas?
thanks
oh by the way, i tried staying off omeprazole for a week and it got a tiny bit better but still exists.
