Wireless heart rate monitor that does not use chest strap?

I am looking for a heart rate monitor that does not use a chest strap
but it can still continuously record my heart rate. I am trying to use this for my mt. biking excercise. Because I sweat a lot, a chest strap would make me uncomfortable. Also because I need continuous data recorded, I can not use finger pulse type of monitor either and nor is it practical to press my finger on something while I am riding.

Is there any product out there that can achieve what I need? It is not that difficult to come up with a design that, say measures your finger tip continuously and transmit the signal to a watch or something, right? But I don’t see that anywhere on the net.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Heart rate/pulse reading on pedometer? Please help!?

I have just got a box of pedometers to use with my students. While testing them with other adults whose heart rates are each around 80-90, mine either shows 0 or between 141-171 while resting (finger pulse) I tried a friends heart rate monitor that fits around torso & got 88, but still get either no reading or very high with finger pulse????

What should my target heart rate be and should I buy a heart rate monitor?

I’m 19 and I weighh about 160 lbs. Im trying to achieve a certain target zone that would be most effective for calorie and fat burning in general. I checked on line and my max. heart rate is 201. What target heart rate should i aim for (i.e, what percentage of my max heart rate)? And should I buy a heart rate monitor cuz i find it difficult to measure it by just checking my pulse?

Has anyone else ever rented a fetal doppler heart rate monitor?

I’m 18 weeks and we rented a fetal doppler heart rate monitor from Belly Beats on the internet. We were able to hear the heartbeat the first 2 nights, but for the last 2 we haven’t been able to find it. I don’t know how reliable these dopplers are, so I don’t know if I should worry or what. What do you think? Let me know your experience.

Please someone help me decide which heart rate monitor to buy?

I just started walking and I would like to get a heart rate monitor. I am so confused I don’t know which one to buy. There are so many out there. I just need it to check my pulse rate, and it should also let me know if I am above or below my target rate. It should be clear, easy to use and the transmitter should be comfortable.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me out here. Thanks

Heart Rate Monitor – How To Use Properly?

I bought a heart rate monitor with a chest strap to go with a fitness program but am not quite sure how to use it best.

First, where does the chest strap go exactly? The instructions just said below your chest muscles, but I do not know exactly where those are. I’m pretty lanky with a bony chest – does it just go across where your heart is? (Pretty much where you wear a bra) or does it go lower off the bone (sternum I believe).

Second, I’m unsure about the heart rate I should shoot for. I think the instructions said 160 or 170 maybe for someone my age (21), but that seems so low. I dont really start to get tired and worn out on the treadmill until it is 180-190. If I want to keep it below 170 I have to put it on a really slow speed (one I hardly have to jog on). I don’t feel that I am THAT out of shape that I cannot even jog at a slow pace… Also when I was doing pushups it would start beeping (near 170 I think), but I didn’t feel like my hr was that fast and wasn’t tired.

My heart rate monitor is higher than my 85% max heart rate, is this okay?

I am relatively new to working out and I like running on the treadmill for a good cardiovascular push. I run at about 6 mph for 30 minutes, but I bought a polar heart rate monitor because I wanted to monitor myself. I found out I was way above my 85% of max heart rate, is this okay? At age 32, I should have a max heart rate of 188 and 85% of my max heart rate is 160. I’m usually running at 170-175, but feel fine. I know if I push to 7 mph on the treadmill, I get winded quick. Is this okay to run at this heart rate?
So far thanks, I’m not sure if it’s important – I use a Polar Heart Rate Strap to monitor my heart rate.
